Are you trying to see what the speed between your phone and your router is? Your phone and the internet? Your router and the internet?

I would suggest plugging a laptop via ethernet into your router and going to speedtest.net or speed.ui.com and then running the speed test and see what you get. The ethernet will typically be faster than the wireless and it will eliminate the wireless alltogether. If you are getting the speeds you are expecting over ethernet, try again from the same device but this time over the WiFi network. If its significantly slower that would point to the issue being your router

So I have tested both wired and wireless WiFi and they seem to be similar speeds. However they are much much lower than what I’m paying for. Does this reveal that the router is the weak point?

To me that would suggest something on the ISP side. What model of router is it?

Does the router itself have a speed test option? I know most dont but some do. If you really just think its a router then potentially borrow a friends and try theirs. (Unless youve got some money burning a hole in your pocket, then just buy one i suppose)
