Color Banding

When I play games like Fallout 4 with a lot of dark areas, I get significant banding and it's super distracting Colour_banding_example01.png.

Here is an example to show what I mean. I am using an Asus PG258Q. If I used a monitor with 10 bit video would that solve the issue, or are those colors not coded in the games themselves? I find it super annoying to see the sharp cuts in dark lighting.
