I was recently given a i9 7980xe and Rampage VI extreme for free off of my good mates pop, he hadnt used them in a while and kept the motherboard and cpu in separate anti static bags. He says the board has never been used but the cpu was used. I replaced my current parts with my new parts and as soon as I plugged the cable into the wall the motherboards lights turned on but the gpu didnt, the fans didnt spin but there was no beeps of any kind. Does anyone have any ideas which could help me in any way. All parts that I didnt replace are still working perfectly fine, just not with the new parts. Thanks alot :)

it's possible that there's some compatibility issues with the ram, if you could borrow some DDR4 to test with and get it to work, you should update the BIOS to improve compatibility.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

The pc doesn't boot at all, no fans spin and the gou doesn't power up on the new parts but everything works fine in the rest of my build. Also none of the debug lights have turned on which is a bit worrying. Should I take it to a professional?

If that's an option, I guess. Not something that's so easy to do right now, though.

Take a few steps back: re-instate your original setup first. If the PSU is fried, it won't work. If it works, the PSU is good. Next, swap out the mainboard and CPU, using only 1 stick of RAM. Make sure it's in the correct slot. Don't add anything else, see if the system boots. If it does, add more RAM then the GPU. At some point it may become unstable or refuse to boot, undo the last change and try again with a different component.

Try the cpu in your old system if it's compatible. If it boots then the stored board may have an issue caused by knocking, rattling, or pressure from other things stored near it.

Which version of Motherboard. There's several listed under that name with different specs

Yep, that was the first thing I did

Try doing it with all the hardware removed but the PSU still connected. I did a little more digging, so many no-post reports, and some of them were incompatabilities with ram and a few other hardware issues.

Hope he comes to a different conclusion than I did. If I had told you to do failed I would have to advise you consider the board dead.

I honestly have no clue. My help comes from diagnosing and repairing my own desktop pc. Most of which are low grade parts I got years ago. Planning and saving for an upgrade though and figure I could learn more and help on LTT forums.
