I recently built my own pc where I changed every single component expect for the hard drive. I used to have a prebuilt and I didn't want to lose all of my storage and pay money for a new storage device. So I decided to carry it over. It worked perfectly fine but the hard drive has many issues. It constantly reaches 100%, is overall very slow and is just unusable. I want to purchase a 970 evo and get rid of my harddrive. I want to completely reinstall windows and just throw away my other harddrive including all of its storage. (Also, if I can, how can I completely wipe that harddrive and could I be able to use it as extra storage) My question is, how do I install windows on that new ssd and get rid of that harddrive, while keeping my windows license? I don't know what I should do in the bios, what I should do before hand. What do I do with the usb drive I have seen so many videos talking about? I just know very little in regards to storage devices.

My specs:

MSI B450 Tomahawk Max

Ryan 5 3600

2060 Super

(I don't know the harddrive, I just know its from Toshiba)

You'll boot to windows installation media (The USB). In there you can wipe your old drive and reinstall windows on the new drive. If you have it already activated it will stay activated via the same motherboard.

Is there a video I can refer to that walks through the process you described?

Follow these steps:

Go to this website:

https://www.microsoft.com/en-ca/software-download/windows10

Use that software to initialize an 8GB or bigger USB

Plug that usb into the system you want to reinstall windows on

If the computer doesn't automatically boot into it, go into the bios and rearrange the boot priority list so it is first- or override the boot straight to the USB.

Once you're in the W10 installer it's super easy to follow.
