Hey guys, so I've got my main rig in my room with all my movies and stuff there. It's running windows 8 and I've also got my laptop which is also running windows 8. Now when I leave my house is there a way for me to watch movies or listen to my music from my laptop?

have a look at plex, that might fit your needs. you would run the server files on you pc with the data and you can view the data on the go. \

I'm not trying to go against Looney there but if you are streaming from your pc at home to somewhere else that isn't in you home then you have to think about the connection you are using, hopefully you can use someones wireless, if you are using a Phone or Wireless hot spot then you have to think about the bandwidth that you will be using, mainly for movies,

Just a thought,

+1 to plex. Definitely worth looking into.

Although an external hard drive might better suit your needs due to the bandwidth requirements of movies that @L.E.D. pointed out.

That is correct, bandwidth might be a issue, so one of those wireless hard-drives (like L.E.D said) might suit you better. i know linus featured them before.
