The majority of laptops don't use sockets for CPUs. The CPUs are BGA, meaning they are soldered to the motherboard. Even if you had the necessary tools and skills to replace it, the only compatible CPUs are not much of an upgrade. And aside from physical compatibility (number of pins and chipset) the BIOS also needs to be compatible.

I think you're thinking of PGA. BGA is ball grid array, which is soldered.
