Optifine

Hey everyone, I wanted to install optifine for minecraft, and I got the 1.15.2 preview, downloaded it as a JAR file, then according to a tutorial i was supposed to open it with something that says optifine in it, but no such thing appears, and I go into programs but I don't see what to open it with. Any help is appreciated, and I hope this was the right place to post this.

Laptop: HP Spectre x360 13t, i7 8565u with 16 gigs, 512 gig  nvme ssd, UHD 620 4k

Other laptop: Acer Chromebook cb3 431 with 4 gigs, celeron n3060 with hd 400 and 16 gigs eMMC soon to be a minecraft server?

1.15.2 java? That's really old. Back then you have to extract the orignial game files and drop the mod files into it.
