Hey guys, so today i watched ncix's video about overclocking and he mentioned XMP. i do not want to overclock my cpu as it will void the warranty and i also don't have an unlocked CPU. my ram has a speed of 2133. i only want to increase my ram speeds and not do anything to my CPU. is it safe to turn on XMP? if not, how can i increase my ram speed from 1600 to 2133 safely and without overclocking my CPU.

any help is appreciated, thanks

Turning XMP on only really effects the RAM speed & latency, doesn't matter at all that you aren't OCing your CPU. Assuming everything is in order it'll work fine with XMP enabled.

I think that a XMP profile can actually control cpu speed and ram voltage as well. But I think no profiles on rams do this

If your ram uses XMP 1.3, then it may have an IMC voltage embedded into the profile. Just make sure that voltage isn't too high.

Also depending on your CPU, memory speeds above 1333/1600MHz will be overclocking your CPU 'by design'.

thank you for your help, do you know if it will change anything with a i7 2600 cpu? if so would you recommend manually setting my ram to 2133?
