So i have had a prebuilt hp desktop with a i3-7100, 8gb ddr4 2400mhz ram, and a 1 tb hard drive. I got it for a great price with a monitor all brand new roughly 2 and a half years ago. As soon as i got it i installed a lightly used gtx 1050 ti into it hoping to play medium to high demanding games such as GTA 5, Csgo, and overwatch. Prior to buying the computer, I extensively searched through every benchmark and found that this cpu gpu combo was gonna be perfect for me in the games i want to play so it was a no-brainer. But as soon as i tried to play any games, my cpu was bottlenecking my gpu for some reason that i still have yet to discover. Games like GTA 5 and Fortnite that need to render a lot of cisuals run the worst with my cpu usuage at 100% the whole time and gou usuage sticking at 30-50 and i get terrible stutters. Even after all this, i kept the same hardware up until a day ago when i got a new i5-7400 in the mail and installed it into my computwr and with my luck. It Didnt change anything at all just a bit of an fps increase in some games but others being unplayable and disappointing. I drew the line and did a clean install of windows and wiped everything off my hard drive hoping that would resolve my issue at last but it did absolutely nothing. If anyone has any tips at all and took the time to reas this and help out thank you so much it means a lot.

Do you know the model of your HP Desktop?

Anyway, where do you plug your HDMI/DP/VGA cable to your desktop? The one at the top back of the case, or the one from the GPU? Try plug the display cable to your GPU instead of the top part.

You might need to check your BIOS and set it to force using the dedicated GPU instead of Integrated GPU.

I apologies if my comments or post offends you in any way, or if my rage got a little too far. I'll try my best to make my post as non-offensive as much as possible.

and it could be that the mobo is limiting the cpu from going all put because of the... less than ideal power delivery

Omg thank you sm for the reply it means a lot. Yes i do know it i will reply again with it im just not at my computer atm. I plugged it into my graphics card. I have checked my bios for an option like that and i dont think its necessarily a gpu issue but something messing with my cpu.

And can you if possible get a picture for the mother board

Yes, i really think this is the culprit because i have no other choices. I really hope this is the issue with it because it cant possibly be software nor a gpu, ram, hard drive, or power supply problem. If you think i should try out something else before i get a new mobo? Thank you for the reply

I can't see clearly but it does like like a 2 phase power delivery for the cpu and 1 phase for the soc so this is likely the problem
