I tryed that

K, I am in assumption there is options in the bios of whatever motherboard you have to set core count.

You mentioned may not have reset cmos correctly. Did you read the motherboard manual? It tells you exactly how to do it.

Lastly, You could also remove the cpu inspect the pins and reseat in into the socket.

As a last resort, ditch the platform all together and upgrade. FX is core 2 quad fast..... maybe.

Have any questions, info is good help too.

List system specs.

Take pictures or screen shots of things you may not understand.

There isn't much that shuts off cores.

You could also look at any overclocking software you may have installed as well.

I already tried that and only says three... but i have always had 3 cores but i usually have six logical processors.

You have a 6-core processor, but due to its "clustering" design some software choose to report it as "3 cores, 6 threads", which is kind of a misrepresentation as well.

Regardless, from the perspective of said software, to report "3/3" means that half your cores are off.  And since it says 3/3 instead of 2/4 or whatever, it probably means you have one core per module disabled.

Enter your BIOS and look for an option to enable or disable cores / cores per module, most AM3+ boards I've met have such an option. It would be rather strange for exactly one core per module to die, so it's probably disabled on purpose somewhere. Also, if you messed with msconfig and had no success, undo your changes there (and make sure you don't tell it to run in "3 cores" because it will do exactly this - it's 6, or better, not using this setting at all).

Now that I notice, ask manager says 2/3, not 3/3. Maybe it's not doing that well? Wither way: check in BIOS.

So yes task manger does say 2/3 but i ran cpuz and it 3/3 and i restarted my computer and it changed to 3/3 in task manger. Im going to check out that thing you said in bios by any chance do you know what it would be under?
