My computer only uses half ram

my computer is only uses 4gb of ram instead of the full 8 gb installed, i keep restarting it at least dozens of times, this happened for months but uses the full 8 gb of ram after a few times of shuting it down and booting it back up but never have i taken so many boot ups and not get full ram, also on the occasion the computer tries to boot up but shut downs almost instantly, doing this multiply times before fully booting it up and when i do get the full 8g and wanna shut it down of the night, it boots up right up and i have to turn it off at least 1 or 2 times

Make sure your ram is in the proper slots for your motherboard of your in dual channel mode, if your not then ignore everything i just said.

are you sure its your OS showing how much RAM is remaining. with your os running aswell as tasks in background it could be you only have 4gb remaining?

Maybe you have 32-bit OS?
