In the current generation of FPS games, I'd have to say BF4 is the most popular at the moment, CS:GO is fast paced and simple (with the exception of modded servers), TF2 offers many different fun game modes and a cartoony twist, but you should look forward to Titanfall FOSHO!

TF2, Insurgency, Gotham city impostors,CS:go, Arma 2  (wasteland and dayz mod are so good), Titanfall looks really promising, Loadout      (TF2,Loadout, and gotham city impostors are free so just try them.......... other free options are  planetside2, warframe, Hidden source beta, Blacklight retribution, super monday night combact)

 

If you are searching for single player: Half life2, Darkness2, F.E.A.R. franchise, Bioshock (more for the story than the fps part), Postal2,

 

Single palyer and multiplayer (coop): Left4dead2, Borderland 1 and 2.

 

 

For me, if you speack about FPS multiplayer TF2, Insurgency and Gotham city impostors are the ones I always go back and have more fun with. (insurgency for a more realistc and tactic experience)
