SAS drives have different type of connector, which have data and power combined. Regular SATA connectors will not work on SAS drives.

Hi, it might be too late now, but you might want something like this:

 

(Newegg search for "CableDeconn Internal Mini SAS 36pin SFF-8087 to (4) 29pin+15Pin SFF-8482 connectors with SATA Power 0.5M " as an example in case link blocked)

 

One end has a SFF-8087 to connect to a controller (but there are other connectors, so make sure it's compatible) and the other end splits into 4 SFF-8482 connectors, each for one sas drive, with a slot on the back for a standard SATA power plug.
