Sorry I am confused by this. I am not able to get it to 100% it only stays around 40%. Is there a process I have to do to get it to 100%. Sorry if I sound clueless. Haha.

I’m referring to the gpu. So you are running the benchmark at full screen and it’s only going to 40%?

Perhaps you should perform a clean install of the gpu drivers.

Hello, I have a GTX 1080 and i7 8700k and 16 gb RAM. For some reason I have 0% GPU usage when I play games. Also I don’t have nearly 100% CPU usage I have around 30-40% when playing games my ram is at 50%. Please help me figure out these issues because is games like Fortnite I should be able to easily run 144 FPS but it usually drops frames randomly causing stutters and just feels choppy. Thank you so much!

Doubt you are using the proper software to watch the gpu usage.
Windows isn’t gonna show the usage right.
Cpu usage is best when it’s not at 100%. Need to watch per core usage for a comparison.
So I’d start there.

I’m sorry I’m not very good with computers. I just used the Task Manager and it said 0% usage in games. There’s usage in other softwares like Google chrome and so on. But how would I check the per core usage as you said. Is it normal to have that low of GPU usage?

Like I said, the gpu usage isn’t being reported. It isn’t that low. You need a program to monitor that.
You can go to the cpu tab, right click and show per core usage.

Then just game and see. Turn the report speed to slow.  Same with some program to watch gpu usage. Plenty of YouTube videos on it.

I got MSI Afterburner and you were right that it wasn’t accurate. Thank you but it still is pretty low usage. My CPU usage barely goes above 30% and my GPU stays at around 25-35%. All my cores are staying below 60%. What would be a reason that my GPU usage is so low? Shouldn’t it be around 80%? Thank you

It should be at 100% assuming it’s being used properly.

Run a unigine benchmark. Ensure the gpu usage actually hits 99% and narrow down its software.
