Tighten DDR3 Timings & I7 3770k Overclock

i got a kit of hynix/corsair cmy16gx3m2a1866c9r ver5.29(8x2) 16gb runnin OC@2133 XMP-10-11-11-30-T2 1.6v and i want to tighten up the timings but no idea where to start

-----------------------------------9-10-9-27-T2-TRC481.5v XMP//// not the pro version of vengeance

i7-3770k @ 4.2 stock voltage delidded liquid metaled cryorig m9i liquid metaled,,, im trying to max the core clock without using fixed voltage.
 i think 4.5ghz is possible

where can i improve. i also would like to input a manual setting for all of the ram timings so i can better understand them

For timings. lower is better (other than tREFI, higher is better for it) and those listed higher should be adjusted first.

because if the computer is idle why throw max voltage at it plus yee save penies on the dollar

Why are you running 10-11-11 timings at 1.60v? 

 

Set them up according to the XMP profile you see in bios (first picture) and manually set everything that you see there. So at the very least 9-10-9-27-36-48 CR 2T

If it's being a little pain to post at the XMP profile settings, you still shouldn't need 1.60v unless you are trying to exceed 1000mhz. You can also increase the Vccio a tad bit. 1.1250v but don't exceed 1.200v for any reason. 

 

So about the power savings. High v-core means very little at idle and gated cores. So running a manual v-core vs the Green, you'll save maybe pennies on the dollar after a year while the energy is consumed in current, not voltage. In other words, under a load is when your spending the money. The difference at idle 1v vs 1.4v is so minor, your just pulling on strings with the power savings at this point. Plenty more to it, but that's in a nut shell. 

 

Put all your cpu voltage adjustments to auto, and see what the board does with your configured multiplier. I've found with my 8700K, I can do 5ghz on auto which brings the v-core to 1.360v under a load.

the timings i currently have are stable for 2133mh on this kit of 1866mhz. i never adjusted just a single timing
im using the xmp profile of this kit becuase it also adjusts some timings other then the primary's the 9-10-9-27 is for 1866mhz and is unstable for 2133mhz even @ 1.6volts

1.5 - 1.575 volts is unstable for 2133mhz im wondering what affect would 10-11-11-28 just adjusting T Ras would have and what secondary timing could i adjust to make it stable and what secondarys can be ignored and what ones to focus on since not even actual hardware overclocking has provided a in depth video on ddr3 timings and what they mean/do since he started his channel only 4 years ago so he never had the chance to look forward to intel 2nd/3rd gen when it released so he only has some videos on ddr4 and that behaves differently then ddr3

Oh I see what's going on then. These are 2x8 sticks (16GB) and not 4x2s. That's why. Mmk was curious, I just didn't look hard enough at it. 4x2s, you'd be still at 9-10-9 most likely. The 8GB sticks are a little tougher on the memory controller much like with DDR4 and running 16GB sticks. 

 

Now that dinner is in the belly, the eye balls are working better.

You should be able to go up to 1.7V just fine, though watch for scaling issues. My kit stops scaling at about 1.68V (i.e. more voltage leads to worse results), while running 1.65v from XMP profile

 

As for timings, I found the primary timings and tREFI making the most difference. I also used 1T since on my system, 1T and 2T are equally stable/unstable in the same settings

yep 
2400rpm 92mm fan single tower cooler i think ive reached its limit this would have never happened without liquid metal  :)

this kit of ram seems to be barely stable on 1T, i get a ctdt 1 to 3 hours of gaming i think it might be the tapology asus used for the memory layout this is why they need to make a decent overclocking board with only 2 slots of ram 2 channels 2 slots would make ram overclocking better in a hole
