Hey all, I'm building a new PC for gaming and programming, and I'd like some opinions on a parts list that I put together.

1. Budget & Location

My budget is around 1300 US dollars.

2. Aim

I'll be doing a lot of programming and gaming. Fast build times are important to me, and the most graphically intensive game that I've been playing is GTA V.

3. Monitors

I'll be using one 4k 60Hz monitor that I already own.

4. Peripherals

I already own peripherals, and I don't need a new license of Windows.

5. Why are you upgrading?

I'm upgrading as my current PC is 4-5 years old and it's been feeling its age.

What if I want to overclock?

Still is. That's pretty bad of a build if you want to game. When you game the GPU (almost) always matters more than the CPU. Try this ( a little over budget, it will get you really good performance in games. If you want to have more freedom (choose a little more pricey components for whichever reason)/rgb just downgrade to a 2070S.)

https://pcpartpicker.com/user/Broken_Gamer/saved/#view=PwWj23 -Theres no price for the case right now on PCP, even though you can still pick it up. All in all its like $1400, again if its too much downgrade to a 2070S

I am NOT a professional and a lot of the time what I'm saying is based on limited knowledge and experience. I'm going to be incorrect at times.

I chose the higher end CPU because programming is a pretty high priority of mine, and I'm pretty deadset on not changing the CPU. From what I saw, the 2060 Super can handle quite a good amount of gaming. Do you think differently?

Depends. the 2060S will get crushed on high settings on literally any triple a, (like 55fps or lower average)and that's at 1080p. 1440p I doubt it could muster 55/50 FPS on medium and low settings. I don't really think  that the extra cores will help you that much, but I'm not totally sure, this isn't my area of expertise lol

Is 16gb of ram enough for you? I'm not sure what kind of stuff  you're doing, but this build should be more than enough for webdev (I'd still go for more RAM). If you're not into any of the nvidia features (cuda, nvenc), you could maybe try to get a 5700 or even a 5700xt. If not possible, then the 2060S is still more than fine for 100+ fps @ 1080p, and even some 1440p. You would have to drop some settings for 4k on some really demanding games though.

FX6300 @ 4.2GHz | Gigabyte GA-78LMT-USB3 R2 | Hyper 212x | 3x 8GB + 1x 4GB @ 1600MHz | Gigabyte 2060 Super | Corsair CX650M | LG 43UK6520PSA
ASUS X550LN | i5 4210u | 12GB
Lenovo N23 Yoga

not sure a 2060 can handle 4k 60.

regardless what changes you make to the build. get a 1440 p monitor instead of 4k.

stuff is cool. stuff that has fancy lighting is cooler. stuff that has fancy lighting and works is the coolest.

i game so i know a bit abt gaming tech, not much abt professional tech.

writing this as i finish a 3 hour D2 sesh so excuse anything wrong.

If he's going to use it for work, 4k is way better than 1440p due to the available space.

I should have clarified, usually I either run games in a smaller window or in 1080p fullscreen. In terms of development, I don't do webdev, but things like .NET, C++, and some others
