Hey guys, I have a question. In one of my particular games(Tekken 7) I sometimes see some minor graphical glitches, most notably some white dots on the screen from time to time, but it's not very frequent and I have to pay close attention to detect them. If I ran FurMark for 30 minutes and no artifacts showed up on the scanner is it safe to assume that its a game specific issue and not a faulty GPU? GPU is GTX 1070 Gigabyte Windforce 2x.

Thanks in advance, cheers!

Is it just that game?

Well I haven't noticed it in any other game yet but I'm not currently playing much as well. I'm asking because this GPU is used and I wanted to make sure everything is OK hardware-wise. But isn't FurMark usually a good indicator for these sorts of issues? I've been told that artifacts are usually caused by bad VRAM and since FurMark is a huge artificial load if it runs for half an hour without any errors that usually the graphics card is OK, but I wanted to make sure since I know that some issues can't be instantly diagnosed by just the benchmark results.

If you have the latest drivers ddu the card then if the issue is still there update your bios and fur Mark is good but it is recommend to use more than one stress application

My BIOS is up to date, and I have tested the card on OCCT as well and got the same results, 0 errors after the test. Is this enough? I didn't DDU after installing this card since it was a 1070 too but the last model had Micron VRAM instead of Samsung, maybe the issues are arising from that.

be careful though, dont do furmark too much

its really hard to identify gpus though... i can symptahesize with you. ive bought a used 1080 as well 1 year ago. 1 year so far so good, lots of games. but i also take care of temps i always clean my case from month to month and gpu fansa as well so my gpu wont go over 65 degrees in heavy games

but again it all depends on luck it seems ; in general i wont buy a second hand card ever again, the money that i gained is not the worth the stress i had using the card (comes from time to time) :D

Exactly, this has been a nightmare for me... I've been through 5 different cards in the past month and it looked like every single one of them had issues to different extents, this one seems OK so far but I just wanted to make sure if there's anything else I can do to check since this rig is temporary, I made it while I'm living abroad and I'll sell it to a friend when I get back home, so I'd like it to be in the best condition possible.

not to mention rtx 2060 coming down for about the same price i had the 1080 though. double the regret :D that card can even out my 1080 and actually surpass it in some dx12 and vulkan titles. on top of that it has ray tracing (not so great but again, accerelation is accerelation better than nothing); rt cores, AI things, dlss and so on

so it was a huge loss for me. if i would've waited 2 weeks i would've known the upcoming gpus. i never thought rtx 2060 would make such a huge jump. at best i have expected a 1070 like performance. it was a great f/p card which can still be if found for good price

I should add that this card still has 8 months of warranty so if I come to the conclusion that there is indeed a hardware issue I can just RMA it, I don't mind waiting a few weeks. I just want to know if there's any conclusive tests I can make so I can make sure its necessary or not.

Well in terms of raw performance the 1080 comes out on top, but I feel you. In my case I bought it used because it was a great deal, I problably couldn't even get a 1650 for the price I paid for this one where I'm at(around 170 euro).

Just to tell you, rest assure this is 99.99999999999999999% not a vram problem it could be just bad power delivery or a bad display signal so just try changing your display signal cable and see if that helps :)

Bad power delivery? Do you mean from the PSU? I've thought about it as well but it doesn't seem that way, usually bad power delivery is a cause for stuttering and issues like that but I'm having none of it, just this issue I told you about. Also, the PSU is a Seasonic model(although used) so I don't believe it arises from that, it's a quality PSU. I'm using a DVI-D cable and it's good quality, its gold-plated and the cable itself seems robust. I think that in this case it can be either driver issues, a GPU issue or even a game specific issue, for this last one there's not much I can do but I wanted to rule out other possibilities.

It could still be a faulty cable

Bad power delivery can make some rendering issues as well and the PSU doesn't have to be old to be faulty it just could be bad luck but just to make sure and not by a new PSU just get a new dvi cable or if you can get another display cable like dp or HDMI that'll be better

Well tecnically I'm in quarantine so it wouldn't be easy to find a good DP or HDMI cable at the moment. What do you mean by rendering issues? Usually either the power is clean and the GPU works fine or there's a rail voltage issue that can cause all sorts of frametime/frame pacing issues but artifacting or texture load issues aren't really a common ocurrence if your PSU is bad.

Well those white  dots are mis renders lol

I've checked the GPU voltage and wattage while playing, they seem to be fine and don't fluctuate much. I also have access to a multimeter and I've used it on the PSU and the same, it seems OK and stable. I can check on the cable and try and get a new one to test if you think it can be of any assistance.

Just try a different display cable and check :)

I'm living in a dormitory and I asked a friend of mine for an HDMI cable and luckily he has one. This monitor only supports DVI but I can try to plug it in with an adapter I have and see if that can make any difference, I'll report on it later. Thank you for your help!

I've tried the HDMI cable and the issue still persists. I'm starting to believe this is just a game specific occurence as I haven't noticed it anywhere else.
