I was getting high temps with my i5 8600k @ 4.3ghz lately (up to 50 idle and up to 80 while gaming) the problem persisted after dusting out the cpu fan I decided it may be a mounting or thermal paste issue. For reference I'm using an Cryorig h7 with a single fan. Can anyone tell me if this paste looks strange in any way or if it looks normal. It's been in use for about 2.5 years.

Looks fine to me.
Is your CPU overclocked at 4.3 ? Or are you just talking about its boost frequencies ?

Overclocked to 4.3 I thought that may have been a problem but the temps stayed the same when I clocked it to 4, 4.3, 4.5 and stock.

For an oc, that's not that high at all. That's even pretty slow to me. What was your voltage on vcore ?

Np, no needs to say sorry. ^^
It doesn't seems really excessive for that cooler. Weird. Cryorig's cooler uselly performs great.

After touching up the paste I'm sitting at high 30s idle. Which is an improvement, so we'll see how I go.

Idle temps doesn't really matter for me. For noise, maybe, but that's about it.
Uselly, I stress test the CPU to see how well it goes.

Threw it back up to 4.5. 1038 in cinebench @ around 70 degrees. Already wayyyy better.
