Windows 10 Backup Issues

When I attempt to create a backup or system image, I get this error:

windows 10 system image: the device is not ready 0x80070015

windows 10 backup error code :0x80070015

 

Any idea what could be causing this and what would be the possible solution? I have attempted the backup and system image on both usb and sata connected drives.

Instructions for frustration management:  

1) Sit at desk.   2) Repeatedly slam forehead against desk.

 

I never said I was smart, just smart enough to be dangerous.
