Hello

i own 2 hard drives in my pc a wd blue(the topic of my post) been in usage for 3 years as original drive then steam drive and segate pipeline(had been in usage in a Sky + uk box since 2010)

 

i got a S.M.A.R.T disk warning on my wd blue on crystal disk info and bios  C5 current pending sector count but wd's data diagnostics program shows no errors

 

I don't know which one to trust

(also the segate one hasn't reported anything)

WD blues are cheap.  Normal life for a HDD is only five years anyway.  HDs tend to die in fits and starts.  In your position my personal move would be to get any unreplacable  data off it and not put anymore on it, then decide if it’s worth the ~$40 to just swap it out or let it live out it’s dotage which might take up to a year or more.

 

PS I just had to read this post.  I loved the title which could be read as “help! My hard drive is smarter than I am!”  Help would definitely be needed.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.
