Hi everybody, I'm looking for a laptop to replace my rather aging combo of a Thinkpad X230 and "upgraded" HP Z400 Dektop (Xeon X5675, RX 570) and I figuered you could recommend something.

Requirements:

  • CAD (student/hobbyist, no professional use)
  • games (I'm not into high-fps titles but prefer strategy/builder type games like Cities:Skylines)
  • basic web and office use
  • portable enough to carry around in a backpack for an entire workday
  • at least one fullsize HDMI or DisplayPort (for Projectors), a LAN port, and at least two USB-A Ports
  • a battery that lasts for 5+ hours when not gaming
  • at least 15"
  • Available in the EU (or UK)
  • less than 1500€

Nice to Haves:

  • it shouldn't look too "gamery"
  • an option for USB-C power delivery
  • webcam
  • keyboard backlight

I've had a look around and it seems like the upcoming Asus Zephyrus G15 or the tuf A15 / A17 (grey variant) seem to fit the criteria quite well. I also looked at the Eluktronics MAX laptops but they don't seem to be available in Europe and the Schenker XMG Fusion which seems to be based on the same design is much more expensive.

I don't need to buy something right now. If theres something coming up I can wait until autuum, maybe even black friday.

Thanks for any help, it's very much appreciated.
