Hi, im building a new pc, i''ve been buying parts for a while now, looking for the best deals, i'm missing the cpu, gpu and cooling.
The parts that i got so far:
Case - Corsair 460x
Motherboard - ROG RAMPAGE VI EXTREME
PSU - Corsair RM750
RAM - 4x8GB Corsair Vengeance RGB 3333Mhz

I'm planning on getting a 10980xe, is the power supply gonna be enough? I've seen great results overclocking this CPU, but i also know that it is power hungry, and then there are the thermals, i haven't decided yet if im going custom water cooling or with an AIO, if i decide for an AIO probably will be a H150i pro, for the GPU im waiting on the RTX3000 series.

For what tasks will this PC be used:

In 99% of the cases I would honestly recommend selling that board and going TR.

PSU: yeha depends on the GPU but could be ok

why would you buy intel XE -series. The 3rd gen ryzen threadripper beats it in any way possible. But im not here to judge you.

that is okay. You should get some 360mm aio, it is a little better than 280mm and it will be needed because that intel series cpu's very hot.

For that money why didn't you go threadripper or even get a 3950x as it's better than a 10980xe and cheaper?

Also don't spend extra on a 10980xe as the 9980xe is literally the same cpu with the 10980xe only have a 200mhz single core boost clock. Otherwise they boost as good as the same.

Is this mainly a gaming system or are any other heavy tasks going to be done on this?

I'd just recommend you sell the board and get a 3950x system. It's gonna be cheaper even if you decide not to sell the board than buying a 10980xe and well as good/a bit better.

For a board with the same features as this one plus the 3950x i would spend almost the same amount of money.

i know, but the diference isnt that much, and with this platform i get the pcie lanes

So then go TR. About the same price but faster, less power usage, PCIe 4.0 ...

3970x is faster at roughly the same price and LESS power usage

Small thing but depending on the oc and well silicon lottery a 10980xe overclocked to 4.4ghz can pull anywhere from 280-360w. Also depends on the board if it will even allow that much power to be used. So that psu is nothing too light.

To properly run the 3950x you don't even need that nice of a mobo.

Which specific features do you need?

There are heaps of x570 boards that are under 200 and more than good enough. Like even ones as cheap as a asrock x570 gaming 4 can be as low as 120€ and whilst not amazing is a perfectly fine board.
