Chrome Video Playback

Just got our internet upgraded and I can finally go from the 144p of our old internet (I am Australian) to watching 1440p. However for some reason on both my main desktop and my laptop the video buffers even though our internet is more than capable of the speeds required.

 

I am using the latest version of Chrome and have tried 1803, 1809, 1909 on my desktop and 1909 on my laptop. I do however normally run on average 100 tabs. Now this was not a problem when watching videos at 144p but now that I am watching at 1440p it seems to be. If I have the YouTube video as the only tab open or if I have 100 tabs open but I use another browser to watch YouTube, 1440p is perfectly fine.

 

Any ideas what is causing this? I was considering upgrading my PC to see if that helped (as it is quite outdated albeit high spec) but I get the same issues on my laptop. I am a bit at a loss as I have the internet and specs to do this but for some reason it is not working. I have also tried Vimeo and I get the same problems so it is Chrome/PC specific not website specific.

 

 

PC specs are on my profile but to be brief i7-3960x, 64gb RAM, 1080ti and laptop is i7-6600U, 16gb RAM, R7 M360

Clarified fail cases

After doing a tab by tab check of just closing until it got better it turns out that an SVG animation was what was causing the issue.

This appears to only be an issue when the browser is under load. So it works if just the two tabs are open but the 100 tabs + youtube + css animation did not work
