Ok so last night I put together a PC. It has a asus ROG rx570 GPU. On pc part picker my estimated power consumption for the system was about 300w. I purchased a 450w 80+ Bronze to make sure I met needs and a bit. Now everything seemed to be working just fine. I did notice fans not turning on on the GPU but I assumed that was because I wasnt running at enough load to heat it up where fans would turn on. Got windows installed and everything is going smooth except after it runs for about 15 minutes the screen will look like old school static and start a pattern of randomized flashing until it kicks off output to the display. The PC is still on but will not output to the display. Now after doing this a couple times i opened AMD monitoring software and watched GPU usage and its spiking randomly up to 90% at idle. Is this my GPU screwed up then or something else I am not considering like the PSU? Any help is greatly appreciated.

DDU the drivers for safe measure. Could be a bad cable or monitor or defective card. Lots of thing really. Check event viewer for any errors at the time it happens

Ik its not the cable or monitor. Tried both. What is ddu and where is event viewer?

DDU - https://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html

Event Viewer -> using windows search just type event viewer.  It is an app that is included with Windows 10

Ok but how do i check at the time it happens as youll no longer be able to see the screen? Or do you mean moniter it until it happens?

You will check after the reboot.  The event viewer is a log of events/issues/problems that occur on the PC.  Not all events are recorded there unfortunately but hopefully some clue as to the issue you are facing will be there.

So is the GPU spiking to over 90% at idle nothing to worry about then?

I didn't say that.  I was just answering your questions on DDU/Event Viewer.

I am no GPU expert but a high utilization at idle is definitely not normal and can be caused by driver installation issues.
