cant craft in animal crossing

hi,

 

i hope im not in the wrong place to ask this sort of question but i cant find anyone else having this problem :( 

 

i cant make an outdoor bath despite having 2 shovel and 30 stones

i've tried diy-ing from nook's diy workplace and my own, it keeps saying i dont have a shovel!!

 

please help :(

I'm guessing that as the shovel is required for digging, it might be that you either need to be holding it or have it in your tool wheel (or whatever it's called) for it to register that you have the item.
