Hi

I currently have a HP DL180 6Gen populated with 9 x 2TB SAS drives, 2 x 3TB SAS drives for parity, and a 500GB SSD as a cache all running under UnRaid giving me a total storage of 18TB.

This has been running billiantly for several years but I'm running out of space, so I've been upgrading the 2TB SAS drives with 3TB SAS drives as a short term solution, but then I'm going to be left with a pile of 2TB SAS's that I'd like to utilise.

I've been looking at a HP D2600 Storage Array, but I'n not sure how this will work.....obviously I populate it with the 2TB spare SAS drives, but how does this connect to my existing server?  I assume via external SAS cables with the necessary PCI interfaces?  But will UnRaid just see these as additional drives for the existing array of 9+2 drives?

Thanks in advance....I can't seem to find much information about this for the amateur home server enthusiast!

Any das will work, you don't need the hp ones. The netapp ones are pretty cheap for what they are, also dell has some and lenovo has some aswell.

Those das boxes connect via sas, and you need a external hba to connect to them. THey will just work as additional dirves.

But its probably cheaper and better to just get some 8tb external hdds, and schuck them. Also adding all those drives will really start to chew up some power.
