Computer making weird noise

Go to solution Solved by Applefreak,

Sounds to me like a HDD, too slow for a fan or pump bearing. Check if the cables come in contact with the sidepanel, those do amplify vibrations sometimes.

So as of recent my computer has been making this weird noise (see attached video) and I haven't been able to diagnose what it is. I checked around as it is kind of a grinding sound which I found means a failing fan. But all my case fans are only about a year old. If you guys have any idea as to what this noise is please let me know. Also for the video you do have to crank the volume to hear it as my phone mic is very good.

Sounds like a ball bearing fan starting up or lacking lubricant to me, but the volume is kinda low

If you have mechanical drive, could also be vibrations from the mechanical drive seeking data (maybe you have an antivirus running?)

Check and see if there's wires rubbing against fans on the video card or other places.

I suppose it could also be the pump on your cpu acting up ... maybe touch that with your fingers (or other components) and see if the noise can be "felt" as vibrations or something in your fingers?

Would this affect the lifespan or integrity of the drive?

Nope just pretty annoying. Just to be safe install SeaTools and do a full scan of those drives and if you can, make a backup of everything important. The scan will likely take a couple of hours.

Try taking the sidepanel off and see if the noise goes away.
