Yup, boot your PC from USB.

Test, to be certain takes 24 hours *minimum* to clear the RAM, unless it's bad in which case you'll start seeing errors immediately

So the situation im in i cant really keep my pc on for that long. I can just run it for an hour maybe....

Should i just check for instant errors then?

On this screen right now, hit config?

I assume if you don't push the system, it behaves?

This is only when gaming that it fails you?

Seems like it, especially during large downloads and i guess when disk space is somewhat low.

Might be a failing power supply then, esp if the system goes stupid only when pushed hard.

But it doesn't fail when actually playing games?

What if you try to download a different game? Same thing happen?

I can try rainbow six siege? Or a different launcher maybe? I dont think its steam or anything network related because download went smooth when installing on a flashdrive.

Right, forgot about that from the other thread.

Then it's back to the drive being bad, or the mobo being bad. You've swapped the cables and connections to the mobo to a different sata port?

Easy way to test that.

Uninstall/move a bunch of stuff to drop below this threshhold, see if problem goes away when you try to re-download

So 30% of 512GB is 153.6GB. Uninstalled a bunch of games. Have 223GB open now. Downloading For Honor, around 65 Gigabytes so it would leave me with around 158, which is above the threshold.

Ill post the results in a bit, so far so good.

I also swapped the port again for the SATA cable.

I have a 113 gigs left on my 512 gig ssd - and when i try to download GTA V (pretty big game btw), when steam is doing its first "allocating space" part, the pc starts to slow down. I don't really want to wait and see if it will completely freeze again. (SSD: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07STTK4TM/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s03?ie=UTF8&psc=1)

Noticed a 100% disk usage btw during these downloads. They're also choppy af. Downloads work fine when putting it on a flash drive (used a 32gig flashdrive and started a rocket league download from steam to test)

You likely have a SSD that has no DRAM on it if that's the behavior.

The other possibility is that the drive is too full. SSD's only operate at their maximum speed up until they get to the n*chips point, then they're cut by how many chips are on it. So if it's a 2-chip SSD, then when it's more than 256GB filled, it will slow down.

You should also not be filling a SSD past 75% if you can help it, as you will quickly destroy the overprovisioning on it.

I'm halfway through the download and my PCs doing okay. This was interesting....

If something happens as this download keeps going, I'll update you further!

Thanks for all your help!
