depending on the case, vertical mounting will have worse airflow than a normal mounting as it will be pressed against the side panel(in current trends, most likely glass) which in turn can affect temps.

 

It would look cool though. you can fully display the GPU especially if its RGB. though it will hide the back plate if it has any.

Im with the mentaility of "IF IM NOT SURE IF ITS ENOUGH COOLING, GO OVERKILL"

HEADSET         : Plantronics RIG 500HD

Kingston Hyper X Stinger

 

and a whole lot of LED everywhere(behind the monitor, behind the desk, behind the shelf of the PC mount and inside the case)

Sometimes vertical mounts have brackets that hold the GPU in place like a motherboard, unless you plan to move this thing around alot, or possibly bump it into many walls, otherwise you should be fine.

it’s going on the place where the pcie slots are, this gives you plenty of space from the case side panel which not gonna affects airflow of the gpu. 

   @Whiro tag or quote will do the trick
