Upgrading PC Question

Sebas3702

Ok, so right now I have my PC build, and I am looking to upgrade my graphics card and/or my CPU to increase gaming performance or fps. Right now my build looks like,

My CPU is an Intel core i5 - 8400 2.8 GHz 6 core processor

My graphics card is MSI GeForce GTX 1060 6GB

My ram is G.Skill Triden Z 16GB

My motherboard is a MSI Z370 GAMING PLUS ATX LGA1151

And my Monitor is a 2560 x 1440 resolution, 144Hz, 27 inch monitor

I have a 650 watt power supply

and my case is the Corsair Crystal 570X RGB ATX Mid Tower Case

I was wondering what anyone thought would be best for an upgrade to the CPU or graphics card to increase performance or if there was something else with my build I should be worried about or to look to as an issue. I do know my monitor is a demanding one but I just wanted to know if upgrading would help performance issues related to that or just help boosting performance? I have been told by a bunch of people that going for the RTX 2060 is the move but I wanted to get more opinions on the matter.

5600 XT or EVGA rtx 2060 KO will be good enough. Mayby even good model rx 5700 (non XT)

Now your cpu is still decent, yes it only has 6 threads, but new gpu will give you more performance than upgrading your cpu.

You have a decent motherboard so you can upgrade to 9 gen intel too, if you do the bios update. Something like i5 9400f, or i5 9600kf will be nice boost. What cpu cooler do you have?

gpu upgrade will fix your performance issues.

Decent cooler. you could get i5 9600kf and iverclock it to 4.5ghz+.

But a new gpu will be better for now.

Gigabyte has good 5600 XT's. Asus dual is also decent.

EVGA rtx 2060 KO is one of the best rtx 2060's.

Would is be even better to go for a 2070 if I could or is sticking with the 2060 better?
