I've recently bough a HP Pavillion Gaming 15 with 8gb of ram installed, however both the bios and windows reports around 5.95gb usable, but windows says 2.1gb is hardware reserved. I've tried checking the box in msconfig and setting it to 8gb as well as unchecking the box altogether and neither did anything. I also tried to turn pagefile off, then back on with no result. This seems to be a problem with these Ryzen chips (I have a 3550h). The pre-installed bios was already up to date but I flashed the newest one from the manufacturer's site anyway but it didn't help. What I suspect I need to do is tweak some bios settings, but this HP bios is pretty barebone, with no memory options at all. Does anyone know how to "unlock" advanced bios options?

All current AMD laptops, as far as I know, will assign 2 GB of memory to the Vega  8 graphics. There is nothing you can do with that BIOS. Pretty much all laptops have super primitive options in BIOS, I have yet to seen one that doesn't. I understand your frustration with not having the option to choose but that's laptops your you, same goes for some pre-built deskops as well btw.
