Sony vegas and Adobe Premier, After effects is not really recommended for doing full edits, its more a program for doing layered effects on small segments of videos which you then add to premier/vegas to edit and do a final render.

 

I would recomend going with the CS suite though. You can pick up the CS5.5 suite for reasonable cheap if you look in the right places, Or CS6 if your lucky. But Avoid CC (creative cloud) as I hate the idea of renting software.
