A Ryzen 7 is the competitor to the i7, but it has 8 cores and 16 threads so it's closer to the i9. Also, with AMD you get better Upgrade options, with the new 4000 series coming this year as well as up to 16 cores with the 3950X.

The CPU is overpowered for this PC, since it is primarily for gaming. That's money that could have gone to the graphics card.

Are you only considering prebuilt configs? Also, we can't tell you if a PC is good or not if you don't tell us the price.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

PSU tier list

How many watts do I need?

PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

If you get a decent power supply, yes. The Vengeance listed in the build above is good.

Are there any core i7 models to consider?

i kinda wanted to get the i9 just so i wouldnt have to replace it in a few years. isnt it easier to replace a gpu then a cpu?

There's no guarantee that an i9 will outlast an i7. It is easier to upgrade a graphics card, though.

oh i was under the the impression the i9 is just dominant compared to the i7. looks like the pr team did a good job on me

it has hyperthreading, so it is better, but for modern gaming they'll deliver the same experience, and by the time one is obsolete, the other likely will be as well.

definitely. A ryzen 5 3600 or Ryzen 7 3700X are also great ways to save money.
