I use this PC on my off time to create content for YouTube or to stream on twitch I built this machine prolly in I’d say 2016 ish I think?? Any way I’m wondering if it’s time to either start from scratch because I’m hearing lots of great things about the new and improved AMD processors OR build off of what I got. Now with that being said I know we have moved  LGA slots so I’m not all the sure if I even have room for new CPU same MOBO. But here’s the build I’m still rocking still getting pretty good FPS on new titles like MW etc BUT I have noticed my cpu has tanked a little cause I play a lot of modded MC and I don’t feel like it runs as good as it once did. One more thing is buying parts from like FB markets or small shops where Im from if trusted ok? Thank you all in advance!
Price range I’m unsure of I’m not trying to spend over 1200 but anything Lower would be great too!
IF IM MISSING INFO LET ME KNOW!
(feel like I am)

CPU: I7-4790k is overclocked

GPU GTX 970 FTW edition

MOBO MSI Gaming 5 I believe

PSU 650w Corsair gold

RAM Corsair 8gb DDR3

1 Samsung evo ssd

and a few disk drives that hold like photos and and important life documents

I say probably the GPU and add more ram. Some people are rocking i7 2700k's still.

I stream at 1080p60fps with my system (in sig) and no frames dropping and looks perfect. I did take it down to 720p due to some regulars who watch on mobile which is still a great quality stream. If you wanting to upgrade cpu and gpu I'd wait till intel drops come out here soon.

However I would upgrade cpu, motherboard, (you'll need a new one for the cpu obviously) ram cause DDR4 now with every board, and gpu to at least a RTX 2060 super or higher. PSU should be find if it's a quality one.

1200 budget it's quite a good build if you did go from scratch.

yeah I'd add another 8gb of ram ( modded MC uses lots of ram, not CPU) and upgrade the gpu and you be fine for a couple more years. maybe go for a 2060?

Do you think I should re apply my thermal paste? Fresh windows install? I have just booted it up since about a year ago I joined the military in the us and haven’t had it I finally got it out here with me so anything I should be doing to make sure it’s being well taken care of?

monitor your cpu temperatures using HWmonitor. if they aren't too high ( over 80 under load or when playing), no need to re-paste.

if it feels smooth and responsive, no need to reinstall windows either.
