CPU temperatures high or misreporting?

Specs:

i7 4790k - Hyper 212 Evo

Z97 PRO GAMER

 

 

Details:
All temperatures seem to match from HWMonitor, msi Afterburner and SpeedFan except the CPU temps which is the same (53C w/5+-) on msi afterburner and HWMonitor and 43C on SpeedFan (both of them idle). When I'm pushing the CPU, I get around 72C on HWMonitor and msi afterburner while significantly lower on SpeedFan - 50C. I'm doubting HWMonitor and msi afterburner are reporting the right numbers because before cleanup and underclocking it hit consistently 90-100C there.

if you scroll down the long list of items in hwmonitor... do you find some CPU temp that looks to match the speedfan one there? 

on asus atleast it seem the board cpu temp are lower on my system. 

applications like ai suite 3 works out from that one. and hwmonitor cpu temp pr core and package are taken directly from the cpu.
