Which is better for folding?

I currently have 2 dedicated servers folding for FAH. However, they both have dual core CPUs. I have the option of switching to 1 quad core server at no extra cost instead. I was wondering which would be better for folding, 2 dual core servers or 1 quad core server?

nobody can answer that without known which actual hardware is in these servers.

 

generally having two dedicated dual cores will probably be faster but this all sounds very much like you have a virtual server and it will all be the same hardware in the end.

My best guess is the single quad core server, but only if per core performance is equal.

Usually F@H keeps a core free for the OS. 

So two dual cores would mean a total of 4 cores, but two cores reserved so effectively 2 cores folding. 

A quad core would keep one core reserved, and three cores folding.

Thanks! Will upgrade my servers now. I guess the most effective way is to test it out and see what kind of PPD I am able to get.
