I need help choosing a storrage array. I currently have two "Netra st d130's" i got from a local University Surplus sale, and they are working great. My problem is they only support 216GB total (if they each have their own SCSI controller, i only have one though. So i can only support 108GB between the two).

I need more storrage space. Total transfer rate isnt too important, but it must be able to support RAID (1 and 5 is all ill need).

For now 2TB total would be good, but id like to eventually be able to upgrade.

Any suggestions?

Budget?

The equipment you have is really old. No sense in using completely out dated stuff just because you have it.

To get something like you want @2TB, rackmountable, not shitty quality, and with decent performance you're gonna need $1100 to even start shopping.

Unless you got the coin to do it right you should look into something like thedave5000 mentioned other wise you're just gonna be pissed you wasted 400-600 on a piece of crap.

a 19" rack mount would be best. the rack im using is from a Sun Micro-systems "enterprise 6500" server."

I don't want to spend too much, but id be willing to spend up to about $750. I don't want to cheap out, because i am storing files for my business and a friends on it. but something on the less-expensive side would be best.
