GPU/CPU Overclock Help

Go to solution Solved by scaryjam823,

You gradually increase the clock speeds and voltages until it crashes. Remember that number. Reset back to stock, do the same for memory clock until it crashes. Then dial both down until it stops crashing. If temps are under 90c-100c for the graphcis card (ideally 80c max, but 90c is borderling) and around 60c-80c on the processor then you're good to go. Most processors bottleneck at 100c to prevent getting hotter.

It doesn't matter what you would like to clock anything at. EVERY card and cpu has different tolerances. My cpu can hit 4.9ghz before crashing. Others can't even get 4ghz with the same processor. Same with the graphics card, it all depends on how lucky you got and there's only one way to find out. That is testing it.

hello everyone, first of all i hope i posted this in the correct section of the forum i wasent to sure of where to post it.

i recently bought a Asus GTX 760 Direct CU II And a AMD FX-6 6300 Black Edition. now this is my first computer build and iv been wondering how far i should OC my specs.

i plan to use the H80i to cool the cpu but i will be using the stock fan for a brief time until i get the cash for the H80i.

i currently have the 2 stock fans that came with my corsair 200r and once i add the h80i that leaves 1 spare fan header on the mobo any suggestions for optimum airflow would be greatly appreciated.

currently its one fan intake at the fornt of the case and one outtake at the back of the case.

now iv been recomended to OC the GPU to Boost clock of 1175mhz and Memory clock of 6200mhz without needing to up any voltages (using gpu tweak)

but i know every system is different. the motherboard i bought is the Gigabyte 970a-DS3P Rev 1.0

As for The CPU iv been recomended to go OC to 3.8ghz with the stock cooler and my aim once i get the h80i is to OC to 4ghz at least i would like to push it further if i could get a stable relaible system.

but when it comes to OC iv never done it before and im a complete noob as to how the process works obviously im no noobie when it comes to computing. i know how to stress test and OC

what i dont know however is where the safe values lie and if im pushing my system to hard. i have limited knowledge on tempratures whats safe and what isnt. i dont know when i would need to up the voltages or even if it is safe to do so.

so really im lookign to the community and asking what do u think i could OC to, would i need to increase the voltages and do you as a community have any suggestions on this topic.

iv seen a few youtube videos on Overclocking this gpu and cpu but i wouldent nessasarily consider those to be reliable and would prefer input from this great community.

what i would like to do is oc cpu to minimum of 4ghz but no higher than 4.5ghz as for the gfx card its not a nessesity to OC but would be nice to get some extra performance if possible.

when it comes down to it i would like a stable system that has a slight overclock but i dont want to go crazy and end up wasting my system.

any help with OC the cpu/gpu would be greatly appreciated and thanks in advance

shane.
