Hello,

I have a little problem with my new system. I installed 16gb DDR4 2666MHz ram on my computer, but windows shows only 14gb, and in Speccy it doesnt register what type of ram and the speed is wrong too. I just wanna know if this is normal or how should I fix it.

Thanks

-Marij

Seems like an APU. The system probably allocated 2GB to Vram.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

PSU tier list

How many watts do I need?

PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

Yes, i'm running it on vega 11 graphics.. So in theory if i install a dedicated gpu i will see all 16gb of ram?

You'd have to manually change the amount of ram allocated, I believe that can be done in the BIOS

What about that it doesnt show the speed or anything about the ram?

Looks like you're using speccy, which is pretty terrible. Use CPU-Z to see specs, or just share a pcpartpicker list.

that's fine, doesn't really affect the situation.

Oh.. the task manager doesnt show ram info also... just the ram, everything else works.. Do i have to set up somehing in the bios or something?

in order for the ram to run at its rated speed, you need to enable XMP (or DOCP) in the BIOS. You can verify the ram speed using CPU-Z, it will report the single data rate.
