Posted March 31, 2020 I use Xubuntu, mainly because I couldn't be bothered to configure something better. I used Arch and Void for a bit, but they take a long time to set up, for ostensibly no advantage whatsoever. My experience with Arch: The Eight Fallacies of Distributed Computing Essentially everyone, when they first build a distributed application, makes the following eight assumptions. All prove to be false in the long run and all cause big trouble and painful learning experiences. The network is reliable Latency is zero Bandwidth is infinite The network is secure Topology doesn’t change There is one administrator Transport cost is zero The network is homogeneous — Peter Deutsch
 Posted March 31, 2020 I'm still learning how to use Mint Cinnamon (it's been only four months). It's been working for me so far so I haven't bothered to try anything else. Jeannie As long as anyone is oppressed, no one will be safe and free. One has to be proactive, not reactive, to ensure the safety of one's data so backup your data! And RAID is NOT a backup! Posted April 3, 2020 Arch on the desktop, Fedora on the laptop, Kubuntu on mom's laptop, Trisquel on dad's desktop, Gentoo on tinker and fool around system 1, whatever I just discovered on tinker and fool around 2. #PCMasterRace #LinuxMasterRace Don't mix being popular and common becasue ot being the best, and being common and popular because it was the first thing the people saw. Posted April 5, 2020 I am a linux developer so in theory I should now what's going on and how to do stuff ^^. However I still prefer the ease of Ubuntu, because if something is supported for linux it almost certainly will be supported for Ubuntu, this can't be said about most other Distributions. Debian would be fine too, but Ubuntu has the newer packages. I really like the rolling release approach of Arch and its customizability. So currently I am running Ubuntu with Cinnamon as my DE. Posted April 6, 2020 Pop!_OS is my go-to Linux distro, like Ubuntu everything just works but quite often it's more up-to-date than Ubuntu and has support for newer hardware (since System76 makes computers). A lot of people hate on Gnome and I really don't know why, it's really useful and handy to navigate, also easily upgradable. If people weren't so used to Windows it would probably be considered more intuitive than Mate or Cinnamon.
