Hi guys,

Given the situation, I'm planning my first build. Located in central Europe, PC will mainly be used for gaming (CoD WZ / PUBG). I'm thinking of a budget of roughly 1500$ (no peripherals necessary).

I've put together a build that's a bit cheaper than anticipated (https://pcpartpicker.com/list/bgHWyk).

I'm only set on the case (and the graphics card size restriction it comes with). Everything else, I'm open to changes.

Let me know what you think. Thanks for your help.

it's a good looking list, you can get an RTX 2070 if you prefer more stable drivers. Also, here is some DDR4 3600 that is lower latency, so it's better.

Trash beauty:

CPU: Xeon X5550

GPU: RX 570 4GB (defective)

SSD: Fattydove Racing 240GB

HDD: WD Blue 320GB

Motherboard: HP Z400

Ram: 6x2GB DDR3 1066

PSU: Corsair TX650

If you drop the cooler, get some slightly cheaper ram, SSD and PSU, and the non-X version of the CPU, you can afford a high clocked model 2070 super with a good cooler, which will give you more performance overall.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

Thanks for the help. Seems like I will have to look around for another video card. Both suggested RTX 2070 are around 150$ more expensive in my area than pcpartpicker suggests. For the other parts, it's about correct.

What about RX 5700xt?

I did not expect to get an answer this fast, thanks. Found an msi rtx 2070 ventus OC that is reasonably priced (500$), but no idea how it compares to the ones suggested here.

I had the RX 5700xt in the first post.

Make sure you quote us so we see your responses.

If it costs you $100 extra for a 2070 (not even super) then the 5700 XT is what you want. As for specific models, the cheapest Gigabyte, sapphire, and Powercolor options are the best coolers for the budget range.

Thanks. I could get this super card for 500$ (https://pcpartpicker.com/product/NxrYcf/msi-geforce-rtx-2070-super-8-gb-ventus-oc-video-card-rtx-2070-super-ventus-oc).

Regarding coolers you refer to CPU coolers? I don't mind those 90$ that much. As long as it's not too loud, and the be quiet one I've read is silent.

That would be fine

The R5 3600 is usually cheaper than the 3600X. Also you don't need an expensive cooler like the DRP4 for that cpu. An Arctic Freezer 34 esports or similar would do fine.

An MSI B450 Tomahawk MAX or B450 Gaming Pro Carbon AC if you need wifi should be cheaper for the motherboard. You don't need X570.

I would swap out the Ram for a kit with better timings. That G.Skill is CL19 which isn't great. Look for a 3600 CL16 or a 3000 - 3200 CL15. You can always tune it with the dram calculator.

The 5700XT is also usually cheaper than the 2070 Super. Avoid the MSI Evoke/Mech though and ones like the Thicc II and Asus Strix. The Gigabyte Gaming OC, Sapphire Pulse/ Nitro, Powercolor Dual/ Red Devil and MSI Gaming X are all good.

You can drop the psu down to 650W. The RMx or TXM would be a better option over the RM.

Why should I avoid the MSI 5700 xt mech oc?

what's you actual country in central europe? you know pcparpicker has DE, NL, IT etc versions?

Located in CH. I've incorporated some of the suggestions above, but I will still go with the MSI radeon rx 5700 xt mech oc, since it was on sale and basically everything else wont be on sale for a while, I imagine. I also don't expect to be running it at max too often, so I hope I won't be affected too much by the reported cooling problems. All I'm worried about is the noise, but we'll see. Power Supply, mb and cpu cooler are intentionally overspect, in case of upgrades down the road. Let's see how good of a choice this is. Thanks everyone for the help, and let me know in case you think this build is a huge mistake 😛

the main difference between the 3600 and 3600x is the cooler and a factory overclock. if you're replacing the cooler anyway, might as well go with the 3600.

rmx and txm are better quality than rm. 550w are enough to power a 3950x and a 2080ti.
