Asus VP249

I recently bought a 144hz monitor the Asus VP249QGR. I can't get a display using a different third party display port cable. My monitor only had a free HDMI cable which is working fine at 144hz. Question 1: am I missing out using HDMI vs display port? Question 2: why am I not getting a display using the display port, is it my cable? The port of my monitor? Or the port of graphics card?

Sorry for the very late reply, it turns out the display port cable was the issue, I bought another display port cable around the 3rd of 4th quarter of 2021 and it's working fine now.
