i was thinking about re-purposing my old z68 sli but my buddy offered to buy it. so that sets me up for a new combo. This is the part list i have in mind:

4770k- with more games using more cores, it will be needed for longevity.
mobo- this i dont have really know what to go for but want it quiet, m-atx for sure tho (suggestions?)
ram- some low profile 2x8 gb sticks (suggestions?)
psu- ??? i want it to handle 1x most powerful gpu (780ti classy kp ov/oc) and fit in m-atx case (suggestions?)
videocard- will use my existing 680 ftw 4gb
case: looking for good value and smallish (suggestions?)
optical- best slim, blu ray ready drive (suggestions?)
wifi- htpc is located on the other side of the house so streaming a full 1080p with 5.1 surround gets laggy. i got a asus ac router and thinking about getting asus ac pci-e adaptor
ssd: intel 530 240gb ssd
hard drive: wd black 3 tb
cpu heatsink- this system will be probably be on 24/7, quietness and compatibility with case (suggestions?)
windows??? 8.1 or 7
will be replacing the stock fans with something quieter and low rpm most likely.

i believe i have all the bases covered. any suggestions will be appreciated.

dont have a budget but lookin for best value but going for a red theme as well.

We need a rough budget and your location before we star throwing quad 780 ti's and 1tb ssd's at you that vary in price from region to region.

Also, there's little point to getting the 4770k for gaming. You're better off getting a 4670k and upgrading earlier.

For the MATX motherboard probably I would go with either the Gigabyte G1.Sniper M5, Asus Z87M-PLUS or MSI Z87M GAMING <--the Z87M will be perfect

dont have a budget but lookin for best value but going for a red theme as well.

Any dual channel memory kit is fine that is 2x4GB or 2x8GB but games don't need the extra 8GB of ram unless you're running a lot of applications either in the background or at the same time..

If you have a interest in buying a power supply that is efficient and is capable of potentially running 2 fully running graphics card I would advise something like a 700w-800w to give yourself some head room.

I would like to suggest that if you're thinking about grabbing something like a 780 Ti or 780 hold that though, maxwell is coming out soon as we speak so don't buy a graphics card yet even though you'll be still running a GK104 graphics card.

If you're looking for a great performing run of the mill heatsink I would go for the CM Hyper 212 Evo since its fairly cost efficient round about 20-30dollars which you could get a pretty good overclock out of your 4770K, if you want to kick it up a notch using something like a pre-done watercooler from either Corsair (h100i), Cooler Master (Glacier 240L) or Swiftech (H220/H320) will be the cpu heatsink upgrade :D

Noctua is soon releasing their industrial grade black fans so keep an eye out <- they should perform well at a quiet degree of sound. There are other options for quiet fans but I'm super stoked for these ones and the Silent Wing 3 fans from Be Quiet

I would opt to go with Windows 8.1 vs 7.

If you want a very nice case any MATX case from any vendor should be fine, I would recommend the FT03 from Silverstone because it fits an MATX motherboard but limits you're cooling potential for you're cpu heatsink by half if you're interested in a h100i or something else, very great build quality since it's silverstone and uses a slim line dvd/cd/blu ray drive

budget = $1500ish

been googling all of your guys suggestions and here is what i think

4670k

noctua nh-l9i

maximus gene vi

kingston ram 2x4gb

intel 530 240gb

wd black 3 tb

case is still unsure about, prodigy is a maybe but looking for more of a shorter case.

psu seen 7 year warranty on a 760i and leaning towards that

i suppose the case needs to support a slim optical blu ray drive.

any suggestions on good quiest fans?

Case: Silverstone GDO4

Fans: Noctua NF-F12, obviously :P. Expensive but very good, if you want cheaper fans look at Fractal's line-up.
