I'm planning to build a house and I want to have all computers in a rack to get a silent work space and at the same time hooking up other rooms on the same solution. (like a jack in the wall type of thing)

For example my son's room and  VR space in another room and so on. (Maybe there are limitations on the VR idea but still, you get the picture)

I found the old video of Linus Rack build in his home  (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NshXgisNly4) and I'm wondering how up to date that is today?

Is there a more modern way today to run workstations "so to speak" from a central hub over a optical thunderbolt cable then he did in 2016? Or is it pretty much the same deal now?
As I'm working with an architect and its easy to make changes now to construction plans then running wires visible later if I'm missing something, I really need someone to point me in the right direction.

If this is the wrong section maybe a moderator can move it to the right one.

Thank you for any advice and information.

/Sebastian.

It's been that way for the past 20 years, nothing changed in terms of rack solution.

Hooking it in another room may creates high latency, you cannot hook the display more than 10feet.
