Writing fromy my Laptop - short rundown - im basically out of ideas -.-

Got AsRock X79 Xtreme4m board + 2 CPUs i7 3820 and i7 4930k - got the latter new installed a week ago runs fine. 3820 runs on 1.0 bios and 4930 on 3.00 and higher

Want to try my HDD on a different SATA slot - AsRock - had it on intel slot before - install drivers etc - restart and switch plugs

doesnt boot - goes into bios - notice it doesnt give that as boot option - remove the other 2 boot options so maybe it will automatically look for it

Doesnt boot anymore at all - might have actually touched the clear cmos button on the back of my pc while plugging in power not sure

nothing works cant get into bios - clear cmos - nothing works - replace CPU with old one - start and reset cmos - reset cmos - full clean boot  - restart instant flash bios again to 3.30 from usb - noice the bios veraion still tells me its 3.3 even tough i used the clr cmos switch and it literally gave me like a bios installation thing - odd  - whatever instant flash bios to 3.30 - boot to windows - shut down

install new CPU again - doesnt boot - error b7 - says check CPU and memory - try booting with every memory stick by itself - doesnt start error b7 - reinstall all memory sticks - clean out CPU - doesnt start

reinstall old CPU - now doesnt start either - error b7 - clr cmos switch doesnt solve the problem - reset bios via jumpers - still same problem

Punched my face in a wal multiple times - came here

Any suggestions appreciated

Nope unfortunately my old board doesnt have the LGA 2011 socket.

In fact my specific socket only supports 2 generations of Intel CPUs - the i7 3000 and the 4000

just amazing value considering that was a fairly expensive board back when i bought it

Im just gonna reuse this thread. Concerning the board:

Any chance a random chinese board will work with my i7-4930k? E.g. the XZANTE x79t LGA2011 boards you find on ebay.

Considering the almost 10 year old boards that are officially supported still come in at 300 Euro.

Is this a good time to stop playing games on PC - because it really feels like a good time to just say fuck it - windows 10 and parts that cost as much as a console each zzz
