This must be a pretty old telly!

 

No you cant run 1080p if your display is maxing out at 768P. You cant output a resolution higher than your display, unless you're trying to do super sampling.

I'm an IT System Admin with 15+ years worth of XP, plus I've been tinkering computers since I was old enough to hold a screwdriver, so I usually know what I'm talking about.

Yes but you've said you reduced the resolution to increase the refresh rate, or am i misunderstanding you?

Oh I get you, I thought your screen was only cable of 75Hz if you dropped the res on its display.

 

If your PC is only outputting 768P, your screen, depending on what it is, will either strech your picture (upscaling) to fill the screen, or it will letterbox it, leaving black spaces around the outside of the picture.

 

You wont be playing at 1080p at all.

I mean I changed the display settings to output 768p on a 1080p monitor to increase my hz
