I have been trying for a few days now and I cannot get my second card to be recognized in the device manager.  I have worked with ASUS customer support and gotten another motherboard and am getting the same results.  Both cards work individually but are not recognized in the second slot,  I have gone through with every step ASUS has given me but to no avail.  I have updated bios, removed all nivida drivers, changed cards, used second bridge, reset CMOS and installed a brand new motherboard and still nothing.  Any thoughts?

hmmm... interesting, try this:

1. Uninstall all the nvidia drivers.

2. Shutdown your computer.

3. Boot only with the first card.

4. Install Drivers.

5. Shutdown after Installing drivers.

6. Take out the first card.

7. Insert the second card in the other slot (not where the the first card was)

8. Boot with the second card only (use dvi, display or whatever ur using on second card)

9. Check everything works fine.

10. Insert the first card now, and use the first card as display driver.

Tell me if it works.

do the cards have the same amount of Vram? I tried to sli to 580s one had 1.5gb Vram and the other 3gb Vram, both cards were detected and worked individually but they wouldnt sli/sli option wouldnt pop up. Spent a good three days trying to figure out what was wrong only to find out that Nvidia cards cannot sli with different amounts of Vram.

After booting with on the second card in the 2nd (5th) slot nothing is displayed.  I switched to the on board display port and went into windows.  My Graphics card is not detected in device manager

but they both work individually? make sure your power cables for your card are pushed in all the way on both your graphics card and the power supply.

They both work individually.  The power cables are not the issue.  I have tested both sets of cables on both cards while in the first slot.  I've spent approx 3 hours on the phone with ASUS and they don't know whats going on.  Apparently it should be working.  Any ideas?

Maybe the Bridge is bad?   Hmmm. Check to see if there are any bits of blue plastic on the connection points of either card? That happened to me once.

The top 2 Full PCI slots (PCIEX16_1 & PCIEX16_2)

Maybe the problem is with your motherboard 2nd PCIe_16 slot, Follow my steps again but this time do not use that 2nd slot, instead use a 4x slot. And did you hook up the dvi or hdmi or display cables your using to the second card when used alone???
