New cheap pc build

I recently posted on forums that I had bought a gtx 1060 for 60 bucks and my budget for the rest of my pc is 200 bucks. Some of the replies mentioned that the 

Intel Xeon E5-2670 is a great high performance cpu that can take lots of ram. I'm pretty new to this type of stuff so I have no idea what I am doing and what types of things I should be buying to support the cpu and graphics card. Another thing I am worried about is if the system that I build with these older components can run modern day games with or if there would be issues. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Keep in mind that e5-2670 v1/v2 are DDR3 so you need an X79 or C602 chipset board. 

If you're going for the e5-2670 v3/v4 they are DDR4 so you need an X99 or C612 chipset board. 

 

The motherboards don't come cheap, generally more than the processor second hand. 

It'd be cheaper to get a brand new Ryzen 3600 and B450 motherboard which though it has less cores, would be better for gaming. And it supports 64GB of memory as well.

I'd get those cpus, but my budget is 200$. I've already tried putting together a cheaper verison of what you reccomend, but it won't hit a price point below 250$. The cpu I am looking to use is

That is an option. If you're going for that older chip then you could also check out motherboards for the HP Z420 workstation such as these

Just keep in mind that with these boards if you go with an ATX PSU you need a 18 to 24 Pin adapter. 

 

Also keep in mind with the earlier platforms being DDR3 you're limited to ~1600Mhz memory populating 4 slots, so there is substantially less memory performance compared to DDR4 platforms.

Do you know if I would even be able to put my gtx 1060 in the mother boards? GPU would work fine in these boards, but thats an LGA1156 so E5 CPU's won't work on that Supermicro board. 

I don't have any specific memory recommendations, I typically only go these systems for servers and I use ECC/RDIMM's for that. I'd just go for whatever cheap DDR3 1333/1600 8gb DIMMs you can find.

I'd rather get something like this instead. Better and more modern.

^^ This is true. Though a good X79 or X99 chip should easily slap around an R5 1600/2600, they throw out more heat when doing so (and power is a thing if that's expensive in your area) and the mobos are more expensive. They're great if you're already an HEDT and OCing enthusiast - I am, I love the platforms and that's why I run them - but they have a much harder time on the price/performance front with the cut Ryzen prices.
