In general for mid range gaming builds it will be more advantagous to invest in a higher end video card and a mid range cpu than a high end cpu and a mid range video card. However it depends a lot on the types of games you'll be playing.  AMD might be a great way to go

I recommend going with amd fx 6300 with a Gigabyte UD3 990fx. Intel would mostly use most of your budget and for a i3 only.

Is this a joke ?

AMD Radeon 7870 Gigabyte OC / Intel i5 3570k / ASrock Z77 Pro4 /Samsung 840 EVO 250GB / WD Blue 500GB 7200rpm / Kingston HyperX T1 2x4GB 1600mhz / SeaSonic 520w M12 / Thermaltake v4 Black

But you gotta think about the other parts and what you get with a Intel motherboard isnt as much as a Amd

You'd get the exact same out of an Intel mobo as you would an AMD one XD

Most boards i find dont give the same for the same price point.

Boards usually don't affect performance at all.

For a lower price...

There are some very good Intel boards that are a good value. I know that the Asrock mITX board is really cheap, like sub $100 last time I checked.

The quality of an FX or Ivy Bridge Motherboard is very important if you are planning on overclocking because VRM components are still on the motherboard until Haswell comes out.  You are gonna have lower overclocking headroom if you cheap out on a mobo.

a little over 1000, it would lower the price if you already have a copy of an operating system. i strongly recommend you don't pirate and just buy a legal copy. and i chose the 8350 because newer games benefit from multicores and the 8350 is competetive and sometimes better then the 3570k

and the 7950 performs better then 660ti in most situation

well it seems like im the only one who actually responded to your post :P unless you have a specific case you like i do strongly suggest you follow the list i gave you. arc midi r2 is a great case at a good value, same with the other components i chose, i was not biased in choosing anything i chose what i believe has the best performance for 1000 dollars.
