I bought three monitors( Dell S2716DG) and got two to run at 1440p144 but im encountering a problem as my gpu(rog strix gtx 1080) only has two display ports, and so my third monitor cant run gsync because its only supported on DP, and it is also locked at 60 hz when running 1440p, is there a splitter I can get that will allow me to run all three at 1440p144hz  ? thanks

I believe that you should be able to get a splitter that can output to your other monitor and still get 144 hz @ 1440p but make sure that the splitter can handle displayport 1.3. However im not sure if it will be able to be used in the same way that a direct port on the card would be. The image may be the exact same on the monitors with the splitters.

Two 1440p 144 Hz monitors would exceed the maximum bandwidth of a single DP connection, so hubs won't work in this case. You would need a graphics card with 3 DP outputs.

cant display port 1.4 support two monitors at 1440p 144?

1440p 144 Hz requires almost a full DP 1.2 connection. DP 1.4 is only 50% more bandwidth.

I think you should be able to get dual 1440p 120 Hz. But most DP hubs only support DP 1.2 bandwidth anyway.

so I got a hub that supports dp 1.4, but its only allowing two monitors at 120 hz, this doesnt make sense as dp.14 should be capeable of running them at 144 hz. im fine with the 120 but ive got a new problem, it doesnt support gsync

any ideas?

1440p 144 Hz requires about 14 Gbit/s, 120 Hz requires about 12 Gbit/s.

DP 1.4 supports maximum of 26 Gbit/s, which is enough for two 1440p at 120 Hz, but not 144 Hz.

also is dp 1.4 not faster than 1.3? because your post about transmission rates shows 1.3 up to 26 gbit but it doesnt say anything about 1.4 image.thumb.png.d3a0e998eb86168ace15ba6358435078.png

The table shows the version each transmission speed was introduced in. HBR3 speed was introduced in version 1.3. No new modes were added in version 1.4.

G-Sync doesn't work through DP hubs.
